Library Services Platform

Cloud-based Library Platform Keeps California Community College Libraries Operational During COVID-19 Crisis. Read the full statement here.

The Library Services Platform Project got off to a roaring start on Friday, February 1st, as library staff from 106 colleges attended the kickoff in Costa Mesa. LSP Program Manager Amy Beadle and Project Manager Amy Carbonaro began the day by introducing project staff, the LSP Task force members, representatives from most of the 11 vanguard (pilot) colleges, the work group leads, and governance committee officers.

Library Services Platform Kickoff February 1st

At the close of day on October 31st, the announced deadline, the Library Services Platform Project had received Institution Participation Agreements from 107 colleges. The vendor, Ex Libris, has agreed to a two-week extension to give those seven colleges who have not joined a bit of extra time to reconsider.

Library Services Platform Update, September 3, 2018

The contract has been signed with Ex Libris to deliver its cloud-based library services platform (LSP) to all California community colleges that opt in. This fall, a group of approximately ten “vanguard” colleges will participate in a trial run of data migration and creation of a functional work environment. The experiences of these colleges will inform the migration and implementation project undertaken by all participating colleges in a single phase, beginning in January, 2019. The project will be broken into numerous discrete steps with check-ins throughout.

The LSP project team is now soliciting participation for numerous work groups and ongoing project activities beginning in the early fall. Most work groups would have a kick-off call, followed by a monthly virtual meeting. The purpose of the work groups is to identify best practices, articulate ongoing professional development needs, and make recommendations for any policies that might be useful during and after implementation of the new LSP. Some activity would take place via listservs, message boards and email in between meetings.

Today, the CCC Technology Center posted a Notice of Intent to Award related to the Library Services Platform (LSP) RFP, identifying the proposal submitted by the Ex Libris Group as the one “most advantageous to the project.” The Alma/Primo LSP is included in that proposal.

Congratulations to the following colleges, who have been named as Pilot Colleges for the Library Services Platform (LSP) project:

The Library Services Platform (LSP) project is in full tilt. This month we’re in a major feedback gathering phase. Look for an overview of the month’s activities in another message tomorrow. The rest of this message is about a feedback activity in which we’re asking ALL community college librarians to participate.

First, a big thank you to the nearly 75% of colleges that responded to the Environmental Scan survey. This information provides valuable information for the task force and for the vendors who will respond to the RFP.

The task force met yesterday and today to select pilot colleges. We are notifying colleges and verifying their intent to participate before we announce those colleges publicly.

The LSP contact person at each CCC has been sent an Environmental Scan Survey and the application to become a Pilot College for the LSP project.

The Environmental Scan will help the project team establish a baseline for current system-wide practices, platforms used, and features desired in an LSP Platform. The scan is an opportunity for individual colleges to provide meaningful feedback that will directly influence how the RFP is drafted and scored. All colleges should complete this survey.
