Letter from the President

In July I will step down as president and welcome Alison Gurganus as the new president at our annual retreat. It has been my pleasure to serve as president for almost two years and I look forward to supporting the Council of Chief Librarians in any way I can into the future. We have accomplished a great deal in the seven years that I have been involved, and I’m proud to be a part of this team of dedicated librarians from all over the state of California who have done this work. I expect that in the future the CCL will be less focused on the acquisition of software and contracts (Alma, Primo, OCLC Metadata, EZ Proxy, LibKey) and more focused on the issues of managing a library and the new possibilities that impact each of us on a daily basis (student success, resource sharing, AI, budgets, staffing, et al.) I expect great things of Alison and her leadership as the next president of the CCL. She has already served us well leading the Professional Development and Leadership committee and sitting on the AI statewide council.

In service,

John Taylor
President, Council of Chief Librarians
